Define installation parameters

Define new installation parameters to tailor the system to your working environment. Set up system-wide defaults to determine settings such as whether department security is on or off or the number of days before a password expires for users.

Hexagon installation sets up default values, also known as "installation codes" or "installation parameters". You can also edit existing installation parameters.

Create an installation parameter

Note: Only qualified Hexagon system administrators should create installation parameters, with specific guidance and approval from your Hexagon consultant. Contact your Hexagon consultant to create installation parameters.

To define installation parameters (see screenshot below):

Select Administration > Security > Install Parameters.
Click "New Record".
"Install Parameter": Enter a unique code identifying the installation parameter,
Enter a description of the installation parameter in the adjacent field. Note: You cannot define fixed install parameters or assign new install parameters to a module.
"Value": Enter the default value for the parameter.
Click "Save Record".

Set up installation parameter value

Update installation parameters as required to perform normal operations.

To set up installation parameters (see screenshot below):

Select Administration > Security > Install Parameter Setup.
Installation parameter values are displayed in update mode. Update the installation parameter value
Click "Save Record".
